Project Description
Nail Surgery
Rachel Miller is a highly experienced chiropodist and podiatrist who sees many patients for nail surgery. Nail surgery is a routine minor procedure, undertaken awake, under local anaesthetic, to relieve discomfort from ingrown and painful toenails. The procedure has a very high success rate and can provide a permanent and safe result to persistent ingrown toenails.
Nail Surgery involves removing one side of the nail (partial nail avulsion) or sometimes the whole toenail (total nail avulsion), and then treating the affected area to prevent it from growing back and reoccurring again.
Please see below if you want more information about nail surgery.
Call 020 8348 5553 to make an appointment
You will need to have an initial consultation for a thorough examination before having nail surgery. Any questions you have about your condition and nail surgery can be answered and you will be clearly advised about pre and post-operative care for your foot before any procedure takes place.
The cost of nail surgery will depend on the amount of surgery and number of toes involved. Rachel will be able to confirm all costs during your initial consultation or do contact her first if you want to discuss your condition and what the possible costs might be.
Rachel sees people of all ages for nail surgery including young children and teens. Rachel is a highly experienced podiatrist, gentle, patient and caring and understands that you might be anxious about nail surgery and will do her best to put you at your ease. If you want to find out more about nail surgery, the cost, what the procedure entails, pre and post operative care, telephone Highgate Health Centre on 020 8348 5553, leave a message for Rachel who will call you back within 24 hours.

Risks – There are some risks to be aware of before having nail surgery although complications are rare and risks are specific to you and different for every person. Ask your podiatrist to explain how these risks apply to you.
Nails can regrow and need to be removed again. This happens in less than 5 in every 100 cases. A toe can become infected after the procedure and antibiotics may be required. It is normal to have some mild pain or soreness once the anaesthetic has worn off. Pain should not normally be severe or last longer than 24 hours. In very rare cases temporary or permanent painful nerve damage could occur. Also, there is a small of risk of a severe allergic reaction to the local anaesthetic.
